-1/2 lb ground beef
-1/2 lb italian sausage
-1/2 yellow onion, diced
-1 tbsp minced garlic
-1/2 cup water
-28 oz can crushed tomatoes
-2 6 oz can tomato paste
-15 oz tomato sauce
-1 tbsp sugar
-1 tbsp italian seasoning
-1 tsp basil
-4 tbsp chopped parsley, split in two (half for ricotta mix half for sauce)
-lg container ricotta
-2 eggs
-oven ready lasagna noodles
-1 1/2 cups mozzarella
-1/2 cup parmesan
- Preheat oven to 375.
- In a large pot over medium heat, brown italian sausage and ground beef. Add yellow onion and garlic. Cook 3 to 4 minutes.
- Stir in water, tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, italian seasoning, basil, sugar, 2 tbsp parsley and a sprinkle of salt and pepper.
- Simmer 30 min to 1 hr.
- Mix ricotta, eggs, and remaining parsley in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper.
- Time to layer! In a 9 x 13 pan, start with a layer of sauce, followed by a layer of noodles, then a layer of ricotta mixture, and a sprinkle of mozzarella.
- Repeat, sauce, noodles, ricotta, mozzarella.
- Add a third layer of sauce and noodles. Finish with remaining sauce, then mozzarella and parmesan.
- Cover with foil and bake 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake additional 30 minutes.
